Volunteer Opportunities

These are volunteer opportunities in the Fredericksburg area.

Please note: Some volunteer opportunities require a parent to attend alongside the scout.

Bishop Events

Bishop’s Events was launched in 2011 with the mission of giving back to others. We do this by providing the areas runners high quality races that benefit local and national charity organizations. Each race, we give 25% of the profits back to the specific charity benefactor from the race. Each year, we are projecting about 140 events around the Virginia and DC areas. We also partner with outside organizations to time their events. Travis Bishop has been a competitive runner, and had noticed that the lack of options for races was hampering local racers abilities. With only one or two quality events per year for racers to choose from, it put a strain on racers schedules and training regimens. He founded the company in order to fulfill this need for racers in the Northern Virginia, Southern Maryland and Greater Fredericksburg Areas.

Brisben Center

The Brisben Center is blessed by the contributions of over 2,500 volunteers each year. From driving residents to appointments, sorting clothes, writing resumes, and reading to children, volunteers are integral to the Brisben Center’s mission of providing healthy shelter and effective services for resolving homelessness.
